Maybelline New York Eyeshadow Palette // REVIEW

When I started getting into makeup, it was really hard to find good drugstore eyeshadow palettes. Most of the brands either had palettes with poor quality formulas or they did not sell palettes at all. Since then a lot has happened.

For a while I had been looking for a smaller, neutral toned palette for traveling (for when that is possible again, thanks Corona). The choice of palettes is huge nowadays, but still I could not find the perfect one, until I found this one.

It is called the "Nudes of New York" palette and it has sixteen of the most beautiful eyeshadow shades. Although there are sixteen different shades, the palette is compact and practical and it also looks very nice. However, there is no mirror. For some people that may be a no-go, but I personally never use the mirrors in palettes anyway, so I don't mind, that there is none.

Inside, there are seven metallic eyeshadows and the rest of them are mattes. I love the range of different nude shades from the standard warm beiges and browns to the more cooler burgundy-toned browns. This makes the palette really versatile and suitable for a wide range of skin tones. I was especially impressed by the quality of the eyeshadows. The matte shades are well pigmented and blend amazingly without being patchy. The metallic shades are really smooth and their metallic sheen transfers perfectly onto the lid. However, I do recommend using your fingers when applying the metallics since that makes them stand out even more.

My personal favourites in the palette are "Dreamer", "Creator" and "Explorer". I basically wear these shades everyday. Since I'm a teacher, I prefer to wear more subtle and neutral eye looks, so these tones are perfect for that. I wear "Dreamer" all over the lid, blend "Creator" into the crease of the lid and define the outer corner of my eye with the shade "Explorer". For the inner corner highlight I usually use "Originator".

If I want to jazz it up a bit and wear a more exciting eye look, I recently love using "Inspirer", "Protector" and "Globetrotter". I put "Inspirer" on my entire lid, blend it out with "Protector" and give it a bit more definition with "Globetrotter". I love this combination of warmer and cooler shades.

As you can see, there are endless possibilities with this palette and you can easily achieve different looks from everyday to night-out-looks. If you love your neutral toned eyeshadows, definitely check out this palette. It's also perfect for people who are just starting to get into makeup, since it is inexpensive (it's about 13€) and the shades are not as scary to experiment with as other more colourful ones.

I hope you're having an amazing day! See you online, xx
