My First Luxury Designer Handbag // Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis

Today I have something so exciting to share with you guys and I wouldn't have thought the day would come so soon. I recently bought my first ever luxury designer handbag! All of the handbag lovers out there will probably understand my excitement about this moment.

I had seen the Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis in one of Lydia Elise Millen's vlogs and have been eyeing it up ever since. One day, I had thought. However, when I saw the actual bag in Harrods for the first time in real life I was sold and I knew that this had to be my first luxury bag purchase. After two long years of saving, I'm holding it in my hands and I'm so happy with it.

It was actually quite easy to get my hands on the bag, despite people saying that it is so hyped that it is difficult to find it in store or online. I was contemplating for a while if I want to buy it in store or just order it, but in the end I decided to buy it online. Mostly because there is a global pandemic going on at the moment, but also because I felt quite intimidated by the thought of going into a luxury store (I don't really know why). I have to say I'm really impressed with how well the ordering process went. Since the bag is an item that costs over 1.000€ I got free Express delivery, which meant that it was there in about two days (the delivery was not next day because of the pandemic). At the beginning I was a bit concerned about having it sent to me, since it can always happen that packages are lost in transit or stolen from your door step. The process, however, was really safe. I received a call from UPS about when the package would be delivered and the package itself didn't have the Louis Vuitton branding on it so that nobody could guess what was inside.

The bag of course came in one of LV's famous orange boxes with the blue ribbon around it and wrapped in tissue paper. Opening the box and breaking the seal of the tissue paper felt so special in itself. The Pochette Metis was in a dust bag. One thing that I'm quite disappointed with is that the bag did not have any tissue paper inside. I always like to have paper inside my bags so that they won't loose shape over time and to generally keep them save. Moreover, I'm used to designer bags having little plastic bits on the metal details and closures of the bags so that they will not scratch or get damaged. Again, there were not such things on my LV bag. So that is unfortunately a small minus point although I have to admit that I have seen Louis Vuitton unboxings were they did have that, however, mine for some reason didn't. Maybe they simply forgot.

But let's finally talk about the bag. As I already mentioned, the bag I purchased is called "Pochette Metis" and it retails for about 1.500€. This particular bag can be crafted from different kind of materials. I bought the canvas style bag with the classic monogram on it, however, you can also purchase a more expensive leather version with the monogram stamped into the leather. The bag comes with a crossbody strap which means the bag can be worn in many different ways. It also has a top handle, which is made from untreated leather. This part of the bag should be treated very carefully because of this. The leather is highly sensitive to water, which can leave stains. Over time it will develop the famous honey brown coloured patina that Louis Vuitton is famous for. Furthermore, the bag has a back zip pocket and of course the main compartment which is secured with clasp in the front.

The inside of the bag is made from brown suede and there are three compartments. I think the bag has the perfect size for everyday-use. I can easily fit in my large wallet, keys, phone, lip balm, tissue paper...

All in all, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. The Louis Vuitton service was great and the bag was in perfect condition when it arrived. I read a few blog posts online that sometimes the Pochette Metis can have a few issues like the clasp in the front being crooked, but I didn't notice such things on my bag. I have worn it a few times since i got it, and honestly I'm so surprised how versatile the bag is, despite it being brown, which is not a colour I normally have in my wardrobe. I am interested to see how the bag can be styled throughout the different seasons and I will definitely report back in a year or so and update you.

I hope you're having an amazing day! See you online, xx
