Fujifilm Instax Link Smartphone Printer // REVIEW

Creating memories is what life is all about, in my opinion. And the best way to keep these memories alive is through photo albums. I love having photo albums of all my travels and special moments. Sitting down after an amazing holiday or after a special day and collecting all those memories in personal photo albums is so much fun. However, it feels even more wonderful to flip through them from time to time and relive these wonderful moments. I do it all the time.

I really enjoy the design process of making a photo album. I love to experiment with different decorations, like washi tape or stickers, and with different formats of pictures. This is where the Fujifilm Instax Link Smartphone Printer comes in. I have always adored polaroid pictures since they also have a sentimental meaning to me. My grandpa used to use polaroid cameras and the first pictures of me as a baby were taken on such a camera. Nonetheless, polaroid cameras are of course not practical. A lot of the time the lighting of the photos is completely off, and films are wasted because the outcome is not as expected. This is the reason why I love the concept of this smartphone printer. It connects to smartphones via Bluetooth, which means that the best pictures from the smartphone's camera roll can be selected and printed without compromising too much on the quality of the picture.

To print pictures from your phone, the Instax Mini Link app needs to be downloaded and the printer needs to be connected to it. The setting up process was really quick and easy, which means that you can start printing in no time. The films that are required are the same ones that are needed for the Fujifilm polaroid cameras, which is really handy since they are available in many stores. Of course, printing pictures with this printer is waaay more expensive than getting them developed the traditional way. Printing one picture costs about 0,75€. So, you have to be more considered, which pictures are worth printing.

Once the pictures are printed, they need a few minutes to develop. Naturally, the quality is not as good as when they are printed with a professional printer on photo paper. However, considering they are polaroid pictures, I find the result pretty impressive. The only thing that I had to learn the hard way is that the printer must be fully charged to print good pictures. Otherwise, the pictures will get a blue undertone. When I first noticed it, I thought my film had gone off, but after recharging it, it was fine again.

Long story short, I love this printer and I recommend it to everyone who is as obsessed with polaroid pictures as I am but wants to avoid the struggle of using a polaroid camera. Furthermore, it would be a great addition to any photo album lover’s repertoire to create more unique and interesting albums. I started printing all the individual pictures of my boyfriend and myself that were taken here and there, and he loves the look of them, too. Any other pictures from holidays or larger events I will have developed professionally, which is much cheaper. Also, the polaroid pictures are quite small, and details are obviously not as visible. I would love Fujifilm to bring out a bigger version. I would buy it immediately.

I hope you’re having an amazing day! See you online, xx
