Since my last post about foundation was quite popular I decided to update it a little bit because I wrote the last one about two years ago and since then I learned a lot more. :)
The only thing that has not changed is that I’m still not a professional and everything I know is self-taught.
What do you
need foundation for?
Foundation
is used to cover up spots or any kind of redness and helps to even out your
skin tone. There are different types of foundation for different purposes.
They can, for example, let your skin look matt or glowy. How ever you prefer.
How do you
find the right foundation?
So much can
go wrong when you buy a foundation. It all begins with finding out which skin
type one has and which foundation is most suitable for this certain skin type.
People with rather dry skin should try liquid or creamy foundations which
moisturize the skin. People with oily skin should on the other hand use
foundations that have a matt finish and don’t contain oil because that would be
obviously self-defeating. If you tend to have a lot of spots you should probably
also keep your hands off of oily foundations.
After that you have to find out which colour suits you best because there is nothing worse than your face having a different colour than your neck. For that you simply take a small amount of the tester instore on your hand and hold it next to your face and your neck to compare it with your skin colour. If it looks the same, you found the right colour. Please, never put the tester foundation directly on your face since we all don’t want to know how many people have touched it before.
Don’t worry when you don’t find the right foundation immediately. I have used soooo many since I started with make-up and most of them didn’t suit me at all. Just keep trying or ask someone instore to help you. :)

There are
so many different kinds of foundation available nowadays. I have listed for you
the most known.
The creamy
foundation: This is the regular foundation which can be found in probably every
brands’ offer since it is the most used. There are different finishes for every
skin, for example matt or dewy.
The liquid foundation:
The name says it all. This is the watery sister of the creamy foundation. So be
careful not to drop it. (That happened to me before ;) )
The powder
foundation: It looks like a normal powder but has more coverage and is
obviously matt which makes it perfect for normal to oily skin.
The stick
foundation: This one looks most of the times like a bigger version of a blemish
stick which makes it easy to quickly touch up you foundation when you’re out
and about. It again works best for normal to oily skin.
The cushion
foundation: I could not write this post without including the newest trend of
the make-up industry: the cushion foundation.
The foundation is in a little sponge which releases the foundation when
you lightly press your brush in it. It works for every skin type.
What are
the ways to apply foundation?
A lot of
people use their fingers to put on foundation which can be helpful since the
warmth of your hand helps to work the foundation into your skin. However when
you don’t what your hands to get covered in foundation you can also use
foundation brushes or sponges.
