Make-up Tips: Highlighter

Hello, hello, helloo! How are you? I hope you're well.

Another post of my "Make-up Tips" series and this time it's all about highlighter. I'm OBSESSED with them and use them every day. Again, I'm not a professional. This is just all I know.

What is highlighter and what do you need it for?
Highlighter is a powder or cream that reflects the light and thus highlights certain areas of the face. It gives a natural glow to your face and also makes your skin look healthier.

Where do you apply highlighter?
The most popular areas to apply highlighter is on the top of your cheekbones to make them stand out more, in the inner corner of your eye to make yourself look more awake, on the bridge of the nose and the tip of the nose to make it look thinner and on the cupids bow to make your top lip look fuller.
You can, of course, also go completely ott and do the highlighter challenge. ;)

What different kinds of highlighter are there?
There are so many different kinds of highlighters available nowadays. I have listed the most known for you.

The Powder Highlighter: This is probably the most known consistency of highlighters and you can get them with a subtle glow or some with chunky glitter. There is a highlighter for every personal preference.
The Cream Highlighter: The name says it all. It has a creamy consistency and looks the most natural in my opinion.
The Stick Highlighter: Using a stick highlighter is the fastest way to apply it. It also has a creamy texture so you just swipe it on your face, quickly blend it with your finger and you're done.
The Highlighting Concealer: Highlighting concealers can conceal slightly but they're mainly used to highlight under the eyes.
The Liquid Highlighter: This highlighter is the most versatile since you can use it before your foundation to give it a dewy glow, mix it into your foundation or apply it after your foundation like a normal highlighter.

How do you apply highlighter?
As we all know, there are no rules to make-up. I apply it with my fingers or a brush but a make-up sponge would probably work as well.

I hope you're having an amazing weekend! See you, xx
