Edinburgh in Pictures

Hello, hello, helloo! How are you? I hope you're well.

I've recently been to Edinburgh again and, honestly, the city is even more beautiful than I remembered it. Edinburgh is definitely my favourite city of all time.
I stayed in Edinburgh for four weeks, so I had some time to explore the city. Edinburgh is amazing if you don't want to make any compromises in the activities you want to do on a holiday. If you like hiking, you're covered! If you like beaches, Portobello beach is the place to be! If you like shopping, Princes Street is perfect for that. And if you like everything culture, there are plenty of museums and sights that want to be explored! As you can see, Edinburgh is basically the perfect city for everybody.

Old Town
As the name suggests the Old Town of Edinburgh is the oldest part of the city and it's incredibly beautiful. It really feels like you're walking through a city that could also exist in one of the Harry Potter books which is probably because Harry Potter was written in Edinburgh and J.K.Rowling was inspired by the city. There is actually a graveyard in the Old Town where you can find several tombstones that have names of the characters on them.

Princes Street
Princes Street is basically the main shopping street in Edinburgh and it has amazing shops, let me tell you. I was very excited to go into all the shops that we haven't got here in Düsseldorf. Opposite of the shop, there are also the Princes Street Gardens, which are very beautiful and perfect for a break during shopping or exploring the city. I can also recommend buying a Cornish pasty in Waverley Station (they are absolutely delicious) to eat in the gardens.

Portobello Beach
If you love the sea as much as I do, then you know that I couldn't leave Edinburgh without checking out the beaches. Portobello Beach is really lovely and if you have a dog, he/she will be loving life. It has a nice promenade which has beautiful houses and cafes alongside it.

Arthur's Seat
Arthur's Seat is 251 metres high and offers an amazing view over the city of Edinburgh. Although 251m doesn't sound that high, it was actually quite exhausting walking up. My friend and I accidentally took one of the harder routes with really small paths which also involved a lot of climbing up. It took about two hours, however, it was totally worth it and the view was so rewarding. Furthermore, I probably burnt a lot of calories. :)

Calton Hill
If Arthur's Seat is a bit much for you, Calton Hill might be a good alternative. You only have to climb a few steps to get an amazing view over the city.

Museum of Scotland
I know that a lot of people are not really excited when it comes to museums but I can definitely recommend this one. It has something for everybody. I especially loved the room with the crystals and the one with the vintage clothes. However, it also has rooms that are dedicated to technology, animals, Scottish culture and so much other things. Unfortunately, the room about Old Egypt wasn't ready, but that would also be really interesting.

I hope you're having an amazing day! See you, xx
